Rapist who kidnapped baby guilty

A fitness coach has been convicted of raping a female charity worker and of kidnapping his own week-old son.

Inner London Crown Court jurors heard how Jordan Shodeke, 26, grabbed his son from pushchair and threatened to throw him in a canal.

Shodeke of Kennington, south London, was cleared of raping the child's mother and a third woman, but was found guilty of nine charges in total.

The case will resume on Friday for pre-sentence reports.

Repeated threats

All the offences occurred between December 2006 and October 2007.

Shortly after his arrest for the baby's kidnap, a police inquiry found Shodeke had subjected the third woman to a lengthy course of harassment.

Shodeke bombarded her with up to 50 texts and 100 phone calls per day, went to her work and repeatedly threatened her family.

Jurors convicted him of causing all three women fear of violence by harassment.

He was also convicted of falsely imprisoning the charity worker, two counts of actual bodily harm and one of common assault.

Shodeke was cleared of raping the two other women and holding one of them against their will.

He maintained that all the sex had been consensual.
