Ghanaian Knifed To Death

The heartbroken family of a murdered teenager have appealed for witnesses to his death to come forward.

Carl Beatson Asiedu, 19, from Norbury, south London, was stabbed shortly after performing a DJ set at Club Life in Goding Street, Kennington, on Saturday August 1.

His sister Annabelle said the family was devastated by his death.

She said: "At just 19, he left us an amazing legacy. "Imagine what he would have done if he had lived longer."

She said Carl, a student at De Montfort University in Leicester, had worked with police on an anti-knife campaign.

She said: "He worked with young people making a film in an attempt to get more black people to join the police and to change attitudes about the police.

"It's ironic that something he was trying to stop was what he got killed in. If we had a reason for this, it could make things easier, but there is no reason.

"People have to realise this can happen to anyone."

Detective Inspector Chris LePere said Carl had been chased by as many as nine men shortly before he was killed.

He said: "Don't assume someone else will come forward." Police are studying CCTV footage from the club on the night the teenager was killed.

The officer said the attack was totally unprovoked but the attackers may have been jealous of the successful DJ.

Carl's family and friends laid flowers and cards in his memory at the spot where he was attacked.

Eight people have been arrested and bailed in connection with the murder. No-one has been charged. skynews
