We have received reports of a SCAM that is currently being carried out on the VASSALL and adjacent wards.
It involves teenagers and young males coming and knocking on the doors of local residents (reported so far in LANGTON ROAD and STOCKWELL PARK ROAD).
They indicate that they are collecting for a charity to support youth local sports club. They ask for money to be able to purchase football kick for a match in the near future mentioning KENNINGTON PARK.
One lady was caught out as follows, She only had a £10 note and said do they have change. The teenager said yes took the money saying I will just go get it, of course he/they never returned.
Another person has reported that they have not handed money over but promised to sponsor the youths to the tune of between £20-£50. Will they try to collect this money and come back another day.
We are not aware of any official such sponsorship or charity collection. If any person approaches you in relation to this please ask to see identification and any juvenile should be with a responsible adult going door to door. Please let us know at the time if this occurs and the police will come down and check out whether the persons conducting this collection are an authorised group or if it is a scam.

We will do a leaflet drop in the affected areas and try to send out a message via the COMMUNITY SAFE WARNING SYSTEM.
