HUNDREDS of kids took part in sporting events aimed at promoting the Olympics and its values.
More than 850 Year 4 pupils from across Lambeth took part in the games held during National School Sports Week which ran from June 28 to July 3.
On June 30 pupils were at Lilian Baylis Old School in Lollard Street, Kennington, to take part in sports organised by the Lambeth School Sports Partnership.
They tried judo, boxing, tennis, handball, Brazilian martial art capoeira and athletics games and training.
Organiser Michaela Clark said: “The day has been a huge success – all the kids have had a chance to experience sports that they normally wouldn’t engage in.
“It was a very successful day with students and teachers commenting on how enjoyable all the activities had been.
“The day was made even more special for the students with lots of special guests, prizes, T-shirts, stickers and trophies.”
Organisers said the event used “the power of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire young people to take part in more sport”.
