Marylebone is a district in the West End of London that lies between Oxford Street to the south and Marylebone Road and Regent's Park to the north.

The village was named after the Tyburn stream (or 'Ty Bourne', meaning two brooks) which was once open to the air but is now hidden deep underground.  The stream still runs from South Hampstead through central London, following the line of Marylebone Lane before passing through St James's Park and emptying into the Thames near Vauxhall Bridge.  The name Marylebone is a corruption of 'St Mary-by-the-bourne', the old name for the parish church that stood near the Tyburn stream between 1400 and 1740.
